Operation Santa Claus: Spreading Christmas Cheer
This Christmas, members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) who are deployed overseas will be receiving Christmas cards from residents at Perley Health. Operation Santa Claus, an initiative of the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS), aims to deliver holiday cheer and a sense of home to deployed CAF members. As part of the gift packages being sent, CFMWS reached out to Perley Health Creative Arts Instructor, Andréa Fabricius, to participate.
“It's such an honour to have our Veterans give strength and support to our deployed members, because they've been there before and they know how amazing it is to receive a message from back home during the holidays.” says Andréa.
With Andréa's encouragement, MWO Gail Fugere (Ret'd), MMM, SSM, CD, a Veteran resident at Perley Health, designed and painted 200 cards. The cards were then distributed across Perley Health where the community came together to write holiday messages.
Perley Health would like to wish all members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have served, or are serving, a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
