Innovative Hub Supports
Ontario's Goal To Help Seniors Live Independently,
With Access to Health, Education, And Community Supports

Perley Health is proud to announce the upcoming launch of new Active Seniors and Veterans Living Centre by Perley Health, a welcoming hub designed to promote healthy aging, social connection, and lifelong learning for Seniors and Veterans across Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.

Located on Perley Health's Russell Road campus, the Active Living Centre is set to deliver a wide range of affordable, accessible programming—from fitness and recreation to mental wellness and peer connection—all tailored to support engaged, purposeful aging. With support from the Perley Health Foundation and in collaboration with local partners, the Active Living Centre aims to serve as many Seniors and Veterans as possible across Eastern Ontario.

“Thriving in later life takes more than just healthcare,” says Akos Hoffer, CEO of Perley Health. “The Active Living Centre brings together our expertise in supporting Seniors and Veterans to create a community space focused on living fully—through social connection, physical vitality, and lifelong learning. We're proud to offer a program that reflects the needs and aspirations of older adults in our region.”

The Active Living Centre also includes Veteran-focused programming that honours Perley Health's deep legacy of service to those who've served in Canada's armed forces, along with evidence-based wellness and therapeutic recreation programs that draw on Perley Health's extensive experience in frailty-informed care.

The Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility has welcomed the announcement.

“Community-based programs like Senior Active Living Centres help older adults stay active, socially connected, and living independently for longer,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “It's especially meaningful to see programming that recognizes and supports the unique needs of Veterans, who have given so much in service to our country.”

“The new Active Seniors and Veterans Living Centre is more than a space. It's a promise to support our seniors and veterans in living vibrant, connected lives.” said George Darouze, MPP for Carleton. “With inclusive programming rooted in respect, wellness, and community, our government is proud to help redefine what aging with purpose looks like across in Ottawa and in Eastern Ontario.”

A public launch event will take place at Perley Health soon, with tours, sample programming, and opportunities to meet staff and instructors. More details will be shared on this page and social media channels in the weeks ahead.
