Senior Living Apartment Support & Services

Living in the Senior Living apartments at Perley Health means safety and independence,
with access to emergency alert systems, health and wellness services on campus if and when they are needed, along with 24/7 on-site security. Tenants also have access to affordable primary care services on campus, including options for anyone who is without a family doctor.

What it is

Assisted Living Services for High-Risk Seniors (ALS-HRS) provide personal support services
to eligible individuals who are able to live independently but require assistance due to health
or functional needs.

How access works

Access to ALS-HRS is determined through assessment and referral by Ontario Health atHome. Services are not automatic, are not guaranteed, and are based on eligibility and availability.

Important to know

Living in the Senior Living Apartments does not confer priority access to Assisted Living Services.

Tenants may benefit from access to health and wellness services located on the Perley Health campus, including:

  • The Perley Health Dream Team clinic, an affordable primary care option for people who do not have a family doctor. This service is dedicated to tenants of the Senior Living apartments.
  • The Perley Health Care Clinic offering services in audiology, physiotherapy, speech therapy, registered massage therapy.
  • The Active Seniors and Veterans Living Centre offering a selection of affordable, recreational, fitness and social programs to support engaged and purposeful aging.
  • Foot Care Services including nail care, callus reduction, corn removal, etc.
  • Opportunities to participate in select activities in shared campus spaces, including within the long-term care home.

These services operate independently from the apartments and may have their own eligibility criteria, fees, or referral requirements.

Many residents choose the Senior Living apartments as part of a longer-term plan to remain independent while living in a community where health and wellness supports are nearby.

As needs change over time, access to services depends on assessment, eligibility, and referral through the appropriate health care channels. Living on campus does not replace or bypass these processes.

Senior Living Apartments for Veterans

The Senior Living Apartments are part of Perley Health, a community with a long-standing commitment to supporting Veterans in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. Veterans make up approximately one-third of apartment residents, contributing to a campus culture shaped by shared experience, respect, and service.

This Veteran presence is reflected in the life
of the community, through informal connections, commemorative moments, and a broader
culture of inclusion. The apartments remain independent living housing, open to both
Veterans and civilians who are seeking
a community-focused setting grounded
in dignity, community, and independence.
