Letter from the Director

While this edition of our newsletter may be shorter than usual, the Centre of Excellence continues to function at its regular busy pace. The articles in this issue summarize a few of our recent projects and how they help LTC homes improve quality of resident care.

The articles also illustrate how effective Centre of Excellence partnerships strengthen the LTC sector and increase the capacity of individual homes to improve quality of care. Nurses across Eastern Ontario benefited from the hands-on training delivered during Skills Days 2025, for instance, thanks to a partnership with Champlain Hospice Palliative Care Program. And two of our most recent publications make it easier for LTC homes to identify appropriate technology solutions and to consult effectively with residents and families. The knowledge transferred through these projects will have long-lasting impacts on quality of care.

Other Centre of Excellence partnerships also promise to deliver long-term benefits. Two research trainees recently joined our team thanks to Fellowships from EPIC-AT, a training platform funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research in partnership with AGE-WELL and the University of Toronto. And to better meet the unique needs of aging Veterans, we continue to nurture our partnership with the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR).
