Ron Buck, Past Chair

Ron is the past Chair of Perley Health's Board of Directors. In 2013, he joined the board of directors of Perley Health to support Veterans in the community and to address the unique health care issues of Seniors.  Ron was born and raised in Montreal and joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1967. Ron served in the Navy for 39 years until 2006, with an impressive career, advancing to the rank of Vice Admiral and served as Commander of Canada’s Navy and as the Vice Chief of Defence Staff from 2001 to 2006. He had wide ranging experience in the most senior command and staff positions in the Canadian Forces.

He graduated from McGill University in 1971 and was then commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant. He joined the Navy League of Canada after retiring and was elected to the National Board in 2009 first as Director Strategic Fund Raising, was subsequently elected as National First Vice-President in 2010, and then National President of the Navy League of Canada in April 2012.

Ron was very pleased to be asked to join the Board in June 2013 because of the importance of Senior’s health care issues to our community. In 2018, Ron was awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers by the Governor General of Canada.
