  • As part of upgrades to Perley Health parking services, construction has started on the sidewalk and road entering Perley Health.
  • This construction means temporary changes affecting both motorists and pedestrians.
  • Traffic is now reduced to one lane in each direction and will remain that way for the duration of the work.
    • Expect delays, particularly during shift changes.
  • To ensure safety, the pedestrian walk has been moved to a temporary asphalt path near 1780 Russell Road.
    • At all times, please remain on the new, asphalt walk. Do not enter the barricaded area to access the cement sidewalk, this sidewalk is being transformed to become the exit for vehicles leaving Perley Health.
    • Barriers will soon be installed to separate the road and the pedestrian walk.
  • The walk will be restored following completion of the project.

Delays Expected as Construction Begins on New Parking Gates

As part of upgrades to Perley Health parking services, construction is about to begin on the concrete islands for the new gates at the entrance to the Perley Health campus. The extent of construction required – including replacement of underground data and electrical lines to the gates/kiosks – means we won’t be able to meet our previously announced November 1 launch date.

  • Weather permitting, construction will begin as early as October 25, 2022.
  • This construction will result in temporary changes affecting both motorists and pedestrians.
  • During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
    • (See the picture below. Rendering may differ from actual implementation).
  • Expect delays, particularly during shift changes.
  • To ensure safety, the pedestrian walk will be moved to a temporary path right next to 1780 Russell Road. The entrance walk will be restored following completion.
  • Regrettably, the work will involve the removal of trees in the area. New trees will be planted in 2023.
  • Construction is anticipated to last 4-6 weeks, completed in December, weather depending.

Please ensure you follow all signs and directions from construction personnel and allow yourself and your visitors extra time to travel through the construction zone.

In addition to the new concrete islands, the Perley Health parking project involves:

  • Installation of new, all-weather gates
  • Introduction of reloadable FOBs for speedier entrance and exit
  • Tap & Go® technology permitting cashless payment
  • Intercom system for improved customer service
  • Special discounts for eligible visitors
  • 30-minutes of FREE parking for all users

Additional details including the launch date of the new system will be announced as construction and software upgrades are completed.
