Applications to the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of up to 18 members and typically has one to three vacancies each year. Among other backgrounds, the Board includes individuals with clinical, legal, financial, business and senior management expertise, to ensure a balanced structure and strong operational oversight. Vacancies in specific disciplines are filled as needed. Applications from the public are welcome.

Prospective applicants are generally expected to have a well‑established background in the clinical, legal, or financial professions, or to possess senior‑level management experience. This may include experience as a private business owner; Executive Director of a foundation or charity; senior public servant within municipal, provincial, or federal government; senior officer in the Canadian military; or executive leader within a medical, commercial, or business organization.

The Board may also engage a number of Adjunct Advisors, who volunteer to serve in an advisory capacity on a Committee of the Board, but who do not normally attend regular meetings of the Board of Directors. Applicants may also indicate an interest in serving in this capacity, which entails a smaller time commitment and offers valuable preparation for possible future service as a Director.

Directors are expected to commit to a minimum three‑year term and to participate in approximately two to three Board and Committee meetings each month, excluding the July and August summer period. All Directors serve on working Committees and are expected to be actively involved in advancing the Committee Work Plan.

Fluency in the English language is essential.

Applications should clearly describe the applicant's interest in joining the Board and provide an overview of relevant management or professional experience. Submissions may be sent by email to aalton@perleyhealth.ca, with the subject line: “Board Application – For the Chair of the Governance Committee.”
