Full-Time 37.5 hours per week

Under direct instruction from the Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapy Aide may:

  • Assist with routine treatment programs, involving ADL training, ADL equipment, wheelchair set up and adjustments, pressure redistribution equipment set up and adjustment, power mobility, therapeutic groups, staff education of equipment use.
  • Provides feedback to the Primary Occupational Therapist concerning the residents’ behaviour and performance.
  • Reports directly to the Occupational Therapy Team Lead
  • Maintains the equipment inventory lists for Occupational Therapy related equipment.
  • Ensures cleanliness and tidiness of equipment and areas where Occupational Therapy equipment is stored and kept.
  • Performs clerical tasks, i.e. answers the telephone and takes messages, does faxing, photocopying, filing etc.
  • Documents in resident’s chart. – electronically
  • Maintains OT Dept. referral statistics.
  • Facilitates bi-weekly OMS technician visits.
  • Performs other related duties with the Occupational Therapy department, as required.


  • At a minimum certification as Occupational Therapy Aide (Diploma in OTA/PTA also accepted)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team
  • Ability to be self directed and take delegation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative with the OTA scope
  • Knowledge/Experience in Long-Term Care, Geriatric Care and Dementia Care an asset
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Familiarity with Point Click Care would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and decision make skills
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Heart Saver) Certificate
  • Police Check (vulnerable sector)
